Think Chan like ‘Jackie Chan.’ You can call me Chan Elizabeth or just Chan.

You will come in with your curls in tact and defined. I recommend washing and styling with product the morning of or day before your cut* so I can see what your first or second day hair looks like. I will cut dry and curl by curl, wave by wave, or using dry sculpting techniques. The first portion of the appointment will be the cut, the remainder of the appointment I will wash and style your hair in a wash and go technique. We will dry either using a hooded dryer or two diffusers.
*While I recommend coming with your curls freshly styled and intact I will not turn you away if you can’t or won’t. I will work with you as you are, but you’ll get the best outcome if I can see your curl pattern as you wear it styled.

For about 99% of my cuts I will approach with a dry cutting technique that does not use any combs. This allows me to cut each curl, coil, and wave individually as it lives on your head. Everyone has multiple curl patterns and this cutting technique helps me see them. It also allows me to account for and minimize the shrinkage that inevitably happens when your hair dries after the cut. There are plenty of talented stylists who specialize in curls and prefer to cut wet, but my training and experience focuses on a dry approach. There are always exceptions to every rule, and I assure you I will do my best to give you a haircut that caters to your lifestyle, curl patterns, growth patterns, density, texture, and wants!

Yes. There are two underground parking garages on 9th Avenue between Multnomah Street and Holladay Street that have free parking for the first two hours of each appointment. I will validate your parking before you leave, but you have to bring your ticket inside with you.

No thank you! When I changed my pricing structure to exclude tipping I raised my prices 25%. I am now able to know exactly how much money I will make each month. I hope to be part of the change that moves our society away from a system that requires consumers to pay for an employees living wage rather than their employer. Because I am self employed I am able to set my rate to what I need, so I no longer accept tips.
